Claus Lauter: Hey, Claus here with another quick tip episode of the E-Commerce Coffee Break podcast. Today I wanna dive into a topic that might be interesting for a lot of merchants and marketers out there is like, how can I grow my email list in a. Very cheap and very quick way. Obviously, growing an email list, very important for every business.
It's owned marketing. If you owned a email list with lots of subscribers, you can reach out to them anytime. So you have a list of potential buyers, of potential customers there. That is completely under your control. If you obviously run ads, it will cost you a lot of money. Other marketing activities are hosted on other platforms.
If you have a Facebook group for instance, Then you're building your house on someone else's land and they can take it away from any, from you any time. That does not happen really with email marketing because you own the list. Now the usual suspect when it comes to list growing is organic traffic build lead magnet, and then people will sign up.
Now, it's not that easy anymore. No one needs another newsletter in their inbox. There's a lot of spam going on, and people are happy not to have more spam in their inbox. So you need to give them a really good reason why they should sign up for your newsletter. And on the other end, if you drive paid traffic to a newsletter, Sign up form to a lending page, then you're not really making money from it.
But there is a way that you actually can make money on growing your list or at least break even with growing your list. And now it becomes interesting. So you run your ads on whatever platform you have. That can be Instagram, meta ads, Facebook, that can be TikTok, that can be Twitter, Google Ads, wherever you want to run paid ads to your news data signup form.
Then people sign up and you get paid for it. Now you wonder how does that work? And that's what I wanna show you today. There is a way to do this. I have tested this for the last, almost three months, because I wanted to make sure that whatever I recommend to you is really working. And I can tell you it's working nicely.
I have tripled the size of. My email list and it didn't cost me anything, or better said I made a little bit of money on top of it, which was a very nice side effect. But more importantly, growing the list is the main point in not spending too much money. So let me share my screen and we will dive into this and I will show you how it works.
Now we are talking about the signup form. So first of all, obviously you wanna have a good signup form, a good landing page. I will not dive too much into this in this video. There is a formula to it on how you build a good signup form for a newsletter subscriber.
If you wanna learn more about that, then just reach out to me and I will tell you more about it. But generally said you have your form field where people sign up for your newsletter. So I have this site here as an example, that's a newsletter for ai. And you see here it's pretty straightforward, very plain, and you just sign up here and then you enter a email address.
See here. So if you go in here and just enter an email address, and then you say subscribe. So far so good. That's what usually you do when people sign up for a newsletter. Now, In the moment when I click on subscribe, you see here, uh, popup opens, and this popup gives me the option of four more newsletters that are related to my topic.
And then people can decide if they either want to select them all or just go for some of the newsletters. And sign up for them. And then they can subscribe with this one. Click more or less. Also two additional newsletters beside of the one of your newsletter that they already have signed up for.
Then if you subscribe and you end up on a landing page, confirmation page where it tells you that you need to check your inbox and that you're confirmed. Now what has happened here, so they subscribe to your form. They see three, four other newsletters. They sign up. These other newsletters will pay you for the subscription that you just have given them, and they pay you between anything between $1 50 up to $3 for every newsletter subscriber you give them Now.
We can do the math here. So I have signed up for two or three newsletters here that are, multiply that by whatever they pay them, and you can get up to five, $6 for every newsletter subscriber that you got in. So you get one. You distribute that to two, three other newsletters, they pay you and one of a sudden you get paid for the newsletters.
If you get the traffic in the first place, let's say from Facebook ads, usually a newsletter subscriber from Facebook ads with the conversion rate there will cost you about $2 a thumb thing if you do everything right. And then keep in mind you get paid $3, $4, $5 for the subscriber that you just paid for on Facebook ads.
So that means it's easily paid. And make you a little bit of profit for a newsletter subscriber. Now, the way to do this and the way I have shown you is to use a subscriber platform or email platform, email service provider like beehive. That's the one that I'm using. They have all these features on board.
So basically you create your newsletter list in there. They will create the landing page for you. They will create the form for you, which you can embed into your WordPress or into your store, and then they serve also the popup with the other newsletters. Key here to make it work is that the other newsletters obviously are related to your main topic.
So if you're a merchant and you, for instance, are selling some apparel, then you want to have newsletters shown up that have to do with fashion in one way or the other. It doesn't really help if you show them a newsletter That has to do with artificial intelligence. People will not be really interested in that, so they need to be really related to what you do.
Then the likelihood that they will sign up and you get paid is very high. At the end of EV every month, you get then paid by beehive. So they charge the other lists and so on and so forth. You can do it also the other way. If you want to be shown on other people's newsletter subscribed form then you can do this as well.
Then you are the one who's paying for a new subscriber, but usually it will be a dollar 50 or $2 for a new subscriber. But there, then you get targeted traffic to make it even better. Is that. You only get paid and they get paid if a subscriber really is a subscriber, so they have to at least to open a newsletter from you.
So that prevents getting spam in. So all the spam emails that usually are filling up a newsletter list, are sorted out with what they do in the background for you. So that's something I really recommend. You want to have a clean list and you don't want to build a list with shitty. Excuse my French, but was shitty email addresses.
So beehive is one supplier for that. There is others out there, also using another one, which is spark Loop. Spark Loop app. They do pretty much the same. So they provide a popup with a selection of other newsletters. You can play around with both of them. Obviously, they charge you a little bit for that, but keep in mind, in a best case scenario, you are making money with your subscriber signups.
And that pays easily for the monthly fee that you will pay for a beehive or spark loop. So in a nutshell, if you wanna make money while growing your email list, this is the way to do it. Look at Spark. Look at beehive. I'm not getting anything out of it. I'm just recommending this for you. Both systems work implementation is relatively straightforward and it gives you a really good chance to grow your list, to create a bigger list of owned marketing and to reach out to potential buyers, customers, whatever you do out there to make money online.
Hope this helps. Let me know. What you think about it. Let me know if you have implemented it, what your results are. I'm really curious to see if it works for you and if you have any questions, as always, feel free to reach out. And other than that, I see you in the next episode of the E-Commerce Coffee Break podcast.
Have a good one.
