Claus Lauter: Hello, and welcome to another episode of the e commerce coffee break podcast. Today, we want to talk about why images are a building block of a strong online business, images all day long, product images, social media images, big part of every market here in the Shopify world. And in the past, there was quite a bit of work involved because you need to.
Specifically for product images, a professional photographer and so on, but things have become much easier. So AI helps there. And we want to dive a little bit deeper into this topic. And with me on the show, I have Siddharth Sinha. He's the CEO of dresma.com. He's a seasoned entrepreneur and passionate about solving real world problems.
And with my. Do my shot. He is excited about building a powerful application to solve the challenge online brands face was creating high image imagery. So let's dive right into it. I see that. How are you today? Hi Klaus, great to be on the show. Tell me images, product detail, pages, social media. What are the biggest mistakes that you see merchants do?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: images are 90% of your, , catalog, right? So buying decisions of users are primarily based on the quality of images that are there. You need both quantity and quality. So you should have multiple angles so that the product is well represented. But you also need very high quality because that's really what drives the buying decision.
And typically you will see sellers spend a lot of time on the product, but not spending as much time on the quality of the images that are there. So this product is not really being showcased the way they should be showcasing it, whether it be on their Shopify storefront or on social media.
Claus Lauter: in the online world, you can't touch a product. If you go to a brick and mortar store, easy thing. So photographs are very important there. kind of differences do you see between having a professional photographer doing a photograph and somebody just trying to be a photographer?
So typically,
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: Klaus, when you are building up a product catalog. You need a lot of consistency between the products on show, because when people are visiting your storefront, they're typically seeing a listing of products, not an individual product by itself. So that consistency across products is very important to maintain, that design language and that's something often you see if you're not hiring professional photographers, that consistency may not be maintained on
Claus Lauter: storefront. totally understand. And I understand that you have developed a solution that helps with that to make it easier. Simplest. How does it
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: work? So we have the app, which really is a professional quality solution available for sellers to be able to create all the content that they need online.
Whether it be for this or Shopify storefront and Amazon Marketplace or a social media presence, all of those images can be created on the app. The unique thing about the app is it really guides user through the photography journey itself so that it tells the user to click the right angles depending on the product categories.
It will show you, for example, if you're selling bags, it will show you how to place the bag, how to orient the bags. So you're taking the ideal angles for your storefront and for social media as
Claus Lauter: That sounds great because the worst photographer on the planet, so that would help me a lot. tell me, how's the process?
What do I need to do? How's the setup? What are the process step to get the perfect
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: image? If you have a good quality indirect light in your studio, you can actually do the photography right there. If you are somewhere that is not as good. Right there. You can buy a 50 light box from Amazon and get professional quality output imagery out of that.
So all you need is that and the and a mobile phone, any Android iOS phone that's to three years old is good enough, to take high quality images.
Claus Lauter: You talked about the image language, tell me a little bit about what do I need to understand with that? How does the app help us then?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: So the app guides you besides the photography itself, it has built in guidelines so that you get consistent margins, consistent background colors, same canvas size across all the images that you're taking.
And the guidance in the photography ensures that, for example, if you're showing five footwear items right next to each other, that they're oriented exactly the same. Same on a listing. that you don't have mismatched distractions like that on the listing itself.
Claus Lauter: Let's dive a little bit deeper into the product detail images. What would you recommend? How many pictures should be on a product detail page? What kind of different styles, angles, what would you recommend?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: Depending on, the product itself, like for example, a bag, you would want at least four or five images of to represent the bag completely.
So you want a front angle, side angle, inside shots top shots so that a user becomes very familiar with the product through the buying process itself. As you mentioned, in the online world, people can't touch and see the product. So they need to rely on the imagery to be able to be familiar with it.
that's really important. You also do want to be able to, have similar, image coverage across all your products on the website so that you don't want differences, in the listing between products that you're selling on the same storefront.
Claus Lauter: When it comes to backgrounds, do I always have a transparent background or what kind of options do I have?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: for e commerce. good to have 4 to 5 white background or a solid colored background imagery. You need any pastel shape that works in your design with your brand language works very well on storefronts, and that really concentrates the user onto the product.
Think of that as a functional aspect of the listing. And then there is the emotional aspect of the listing, which is a creative image, a lifestyle image with a model or placing the product in context. So, for example, if you're selling decor items, you want to show it on a kitchen shelf or on a timetable.
And all of those backdrops are also available on the app itself. So we have over 10, 000 product specific context imagery also available that you can actually shoot a product light box and then add the background depending on what kind of mood or context you want to set for your product.
Claus Lauter: very interesting. I love that. How far does AI help you with choosing the right background or putting your product into the background?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: So we have a very sophisticated background recommendation engine. So depending on the type of product you have, the colors of the product, it will actually run through our template library and pick out the ideal templates for your product.
Depending on, the category and the features that are available on the product. Once you have selected the template, we have AI also available to customize the template for you. So for example, if you, instead of a wooden, shelf, you want a marble shelf, you can do that instantly on the solution
Claus Lauter: as well.
That's kind of interesting. I like that. That helps a lot. Now, how do I get then my images from my camera or from my mobile phone into my product detail page?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: There are three ways you can actually get the images back down. So you can actually just download it, from the mobile or we have a web app solution as well.
So you can get the images downloaded from there. There is a CSV So if you have a standard. format that you want for a marketplace or a product information management system. We have customizable CSV outputs as well. So you have multiple images. So if you've shot 100 SKUs and you have 500 images to upload the CSV is a very good way of, doing that.
And then we have direct integrations with an Amazon storefront as well. So you can actually pick the product that you want the images linked to, and it will automatically link that. And that will be available for Shopify as well in October.
Claus Lauter: Okay. Excellent. So there will be a Shopify app that basically per click, you just move it into the product detail page.
Yes.
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: And you can actually just go into your existing product catalog library, pick an image and create a creative image out of it. So it will actually suggest backdrops for your existing images as well.
Claus Lauter: When it comes to site speed, it's always something that people are concerned with. how does it work in what kind of format or size or resolution are the images available?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: So we have a customizable outputs, both in terms of, uh, You can customize that to any degree you want. want
Claus Lauter: WebP output, JPEG output, PNG Can I use these images then and also use them in Photoshop or something like else, if I have some other ideas too, to work with that? Sure.
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: So there is a instant output available from the app that you can, use immediately
for example, if you're selling leather bags and you want scratches or wrinkles removed, or any reflections removed, all of that can be done through our editing process as well. And you get that within four hours, maximum
Claus Lauter: 24 hours. That's super convenient.
Tell me a little bit about the pricing. How does that work?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: So we are launching an all-inclusive price of 10 euros a month, starting this month. So September 1st week that product is launching, you can get unlimited outputs in $10. That's the instrument output. And then if you want a manual retouch, a very high end retouch that's priced at two euros in image.
Claus Lauter: Okay, excellent. Who's your perfect customer? Who's working most with you guys?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: We love Shopify storefronts they're always interesting products available a lot of German products. So that's something that, helps our solution really helps there because a very fast solution.
It Cuts down your time to actually get your products listed and selling. So it really helps a seller. So rather than pulling products out of a warehouse or a studio, sending it out to a photographer or having a photographer come in and do the photography, you can click images wherever the products are available.
You can click images of one product or 100 products. You don't have to wait for products to accumulate. So all of those are very big advantages of
Claus Lauter: the solution. Yeah. That sounds to me like bargain compared to all the production that you need to do with a photographer and so on and so forth.
Before we come to the end of our coffee break today, is there one final thought that you want to leave our listeners with?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: What I always tells, any potential customer across that this is really a professional quality solution. So if you feel that your photographer or your studio workflow is taking too long and that you would have to compromise on the quality if you're using a solution like that's not at all the case.
What you get is fully professional quality
Claus Lauter: algorithms of Okay. Sounds good to me. Where can people find more about you guys?
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: you can download the app from app store play store. You can go to our website and do my shoe. com
Claus Lauter: I will put the links in the show notes and you just want click away. So thanks so much for giving us an overview on how that has become much, much easier than in the past and also much more affordable than in the past. And I hope a lot of merchants will try it out. It's definitely worth it. And thanks so much for your time.
great
Siddharth Prakash Sinha: talking to you. Class.
